Do you know ? And olive oil !

Do you know how many different uses there are for Olive oil ?

Do you know what chemicals are in your everyday bathroom products ?

Okay let's start by naming just two ingredients that when you take a look will appear in most of your bathroom products, lets name them and discuss what possible impact they may have on your health.

1) Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS)

This is a harsh detergent and wetting agent used in garage floor cleaners, engine degreasers and auto cleaning products.
SLS is well know in the scientific community as a common skin irritant. It is rapidly absorbed and retained in eyes, brain, heart and liver, which may result in harmful long term effects. SLS can also delay healing, cause cataracts in adults and prevent children's eyes developing properly.

2) Propylene Glycol

A cosmetic form of mineral oil found in automatic brake and hydraulic fluid and industrial antifreeze. In skin and hair products it works as a humecent, which is a substance that retains the moisture content of skin or cosmetic products by preventing the escape of moisture or water. Material Safety Data Sheets warns users to avoid skin contact with Propylene Glycol as this strong skin irritant can cause liver abnormalities and kidney damage.

Now these ingredients may not cause you any problems at all, however for me it was a risk I was not prepared to take. As a result of changing my bathroom products the psoriasis I suffered with since the age of 16 became 80% better, that's life changing !
I do know people with a range of different skin complains that have disappeared by removing such chemicals.

Go have a look in your bathroom, shocking isn't it all or almost all your product have these in ?

Good news you can buy products without these nasty chemicals in, if you look hard enough in the shops they can be found or take a look at the linked website. The website is for a company I have been using for over 10 years called Neways they do NOT have over 3000 ingredients that have a questionable nature.

Now for Olive Oil, living in Spain if you are like us you will have it in your kitchen. Most of my cooking is done with Olive Oil.
But if you find that your body lotion has questionable ingredients, you now have a choose at your finger tips right now ! Try it don't use the body lotion use the Olive oil, I promise you will feel a difference, your skin will feel smooth, soft and healthier. Maybe don't use olive oil on your face during the day as leaves a shine and also in the summer you may burn !

Also you could heat it slightly (only slightly or it will burn you!) and use it in your hair is a fab hair conditioner and brilliant if have a scalp problem, you can leave it on over night, cover the pillow with a towel to avoid marking ! Wash out well, otherwise you will look a light unwashed !

Olive oil makes a great eye makeup remover
Add to a warm bath add your favourite essential oil, lay back and relax

More off the wall uses :

Use to clean garden tools
To make stainless steel shiny
Free a stuck zip
Get rid of headlice (nits) change shampoo to one without chemicals to avoid getting them again ! My kids have never had them, whilst rest of the class have, only difference is the shampoo !
Furnish polish
Will remove those horrible sticker marks
Polish shoes
Pour a small amount into an aching ear and watch the pain disappear (if it doesn't see your doctor)

Go ahead try it ! Olive oil is for so much more than just cooking !

ENJOY!
