The Eye on Spain newsletter confusion and the new Weekly Digest Top 10
Saturday, October 29, 2011

It seems that my recent communication regarding the Eye on Spain newsletter may have been slightly misinterpreted by some people.

Having re-read it I can possibly see why.

What I was trying to say was just that the newsletter in its traditional format was ending, not that we were shutting down the website, or anything like that!

I really felt that the previous style newsletter was becoming very “heavy”, with way too much stuff in it. It was also incredibly time consuming to put together.

But the main reason for changing this was that in actual fact much of the most interesting content is buried within the forums, blogs and community forums on the website each week.

It’s our members that dictate what’s of most interest and it’s this that we want to now share with our “newsletter” readers. In other words, our members are saying what’s important each week.

So as of this week, you will be receiving a new “Weekly Digest Top 10”. A summary of the top discussions, news items and other stuff of interest from the previous seven days.

It’s a much cleaner format, designed to be easy to scan and without overwhelming the reader.

I hope you’re going to enjoy the new format as much as the previous newsletter and as always, if you have any recommendations and suggestions yourself, then just reply to the email and we’ll certainly take note!

Thanks for continuing to support us and we look forward to being your “Eye on Spain” for many years to come

Adios to the Eye on Spain newsletter
Tuesday, October 18, 2011

EOS newsletter** Apologies if you received my notification email twice on this. Problems with the new email system **

It’s the end of an era!

We’ve been putting together the Eye on Spain newsletter every week (ish) since 2005 and today we are officially saying adios to the newsletter you’ve become familiar with over all these years (or less if you’ve only joined us recently).

But, there comes a point in time where paths have to change, businesses need to adapt to future trends and also continue to develop and come up with new ideas.

(And it’s also quite a lot of work to put the newsletter together every week!!)

That’s the point EOS is at today. We’ve always tried to be a bit different, coming up with new ideas, not afraid to speak our minds and always thinking “what’s next”.

So, we’re getting our creative juices flowing once more and we need to shelve the newsletter to make way for new ideas and new ways to communicate with our readers and members.

So we’re not totally going to stop bothering you ;) We’re still going to send you the odd email now and then about something which we pick up on of interest. For example, just last week I recorded a really good video with a friend of mine talking about the property market today. It’s a great video with some real honest insights and so I’m planning to share that with you over the next few days.

One of our readers has written a really funny book that we want to share with you too. You’re going to love it.

We’re also looking to enable regular community and forum updates by email, which many people have been asking for for…..erm…years!

In essence, after 6 years of emailing out a newsletter we now want to communicate with you in a different way. We want to see what you are really interested in, what you’d really like to hear about from us, etc. We also want to be able to adapt what you receive based on what your interests are (eg, property, rentals, lifestyle, travel, etc).

I’m really excited about some of the stuff we’ve got planned going forward. You’re going to see a much more creative and dynamic EOS back again and we look forward to you being a part of it!

Thanks for reading our newsletters over the years; I hope you have enjoyed most of them. We’ve made so many friends and met so many people through it that for that reason alone it was worth doing.

Un abrazo

Justin
