Google helps you to say things in Spanish
Monday, May 17, 2010

A couple of weeks ago Google launched a new feature as part of their translation service.  The new feature allows you to hear how to pronounce a word or sentence in another language.

You need to go to the Google translate page at http://translate.google.com

See me example below:

Google Transalte speech

You can see I've selected "Transalte from English" and "Transalte into Spanish" and entered the text "I am going to the beach for a swim".

As you enter your text it automatically starts writing the translation for your underneath.  You can see here it's written:

"Voy a la playa a nadar"

To the left of this translation is a little icon/button with a loudspeaker.  If you click that icon it will speak the words to you, so you know how to pronounce them.

I think it's a great little tool to make sure you get your words out right when learning Spanish.

First swim of the year
Monday, May 17, 2010

Well finally we had some decent weather this past weekend and we finally made it down to the beach.

The high winds of the past few days had died down (although it's back today) and we were able to enjoy a very comfortable day at the beach in Duquesa.

I even went for my first swim in the sea, even though it was quite freezing really.

I hope we can now enjoy better weather leading into the summer and enjoy some beach time, especially before the beaches become really busy in July and August.

Spanish Grand Prix this weekend
Thursday, May 6, 2010

I'm so looking forward to the Spanish Formula 1 grand prix this weekend.  The Spanish fans must be super excited at the moment with Alonso turning up in his new Ferrari!

It also looks like it's going to be another wet race which should make it very exciting.

I went to the Barcelona race a couple of years ago and to be honest, I found it a bit boring.  With a dash of rain Barcelona tends to throw up some very exciting races.

Who's going to win on Sunday?

My prediction is that we're going to have a Hamilton win with Alonso and Schumacher on the podium.  Now THAT would be some result!
