Was going to Spain from start to finish but now I, Luca have taken over

Was about researching about where to look & about living in Spain I am here. So was for anyone interested here are the good & bad things that happened to me. But now I (Luca) will tell you about my experiences, both very bad, better and good.

My final stay in the UK.

Sorry I have not written before but since being in England my life has seemed to have been a catalogue of misfortunes. Now you must be thinking I’m a grumpy old sod, but honestly I’m not.  On driving off the Ferry at Portsmouth, the Spring I thought might brighten our lives, just never materialised & I’ve spent the last 20 days clearing snow & shivering with cold. What an Easter – terrible, worst I have known.

My laptop then seriously crashed & had to be taken right back to factory settings. Unfortunately this was Windows Vista as I bought my laptop 1 week before Windows 7 was launched & to which I subsequently uploaded. I also did not have Microsoft Office loaded as it was a 60 day free trial thing, & to exacerbate the situation both the DVD discs are in Spain, so I was limping along finalising various secretariat’s & asking friends to print off items for me etc, so time consuming, how did we manage without computers &n printers?

Fortunately my place in England was all completed & finished without a hitch so that’s a blessing, although a fair amount of items are still in the back room of Phet’s saloon still to be transported to Spain, a minor problem however. But the things I have thrown away, I’m still in mourning!

Phet has now applied for British Citizenship which not only costs a fortune but can take up to 7 months, so she has to remain in England while that is concluded. This was the problem with her all along but she did not tell me. Sad for me particularly, but also for Phet who has to remain in England.

There were several other problems to overcome but no-one wants to hear of moaning’s………., so now I am booked on the overnight Brittany ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo on Thursday hoping to be back in Sedella on Saturday & really friends I cannot wait to be back.

My mate Richard may travel with me depending on his hospital appointment the day prior, but driving down on my own again holds no fears, I now know what to expect.

Perhaps after once again settling down in Sedella I can re-commence our meetings up again with my extra-ordinarily good friends on Eye on Spain & there are lot of you.

Hi Gerald, glad to hear that you seem to be getting things sorted now. I know what you mean about the things you have thrown away! We still have a few boxes to pack ad some furniture to dispose of! The trouble with having nice things is parting with them for a reasonable price. I dropped a load of stuff off at our local auction so I'm hoping they've all been sold. Well three weeks and I look forward to meeting the EOS clan. Alan and I are very excited now. Sorry to hear about Phet and the visa problems! Does this mean she can't even come over to you for an extended holiday?
Cheers
Lin

No Lin she can't, as they have all her documents including her passport.

Good luck Gerald! You have come this far and will succeed! you just sound a bit swamped at present! It is a huge life change and normal to feel like that. I bet in a few months you will be sitting on your terrace sharing that bubbly with Phet!!

IT will all be worth it, even if the ride was a little bumpy and all a bit delayed. The sunshine awaits.
Good luck with everything.

"I never believed it would be easy - I just knew it would be worth it." I wrote that a couple of weeks ago in my blog, but this week it applies to YOU Gerry. Waiting a few months for Phet seems a long time now, but in the context of your long and happy lives ahead of you in the Spanish sunshine, it is just a blip. Drive carefully, see you soon :-)

How lovely to read your blog again, Gerald, We know exactly what you mean about the weather. We seem to have been stuck inside for weeks, only venturing out in the car to get supplies, and I've been sitting on the settee with a hot water bottle on my knee. However, the warmer weather is arriving here at last. I expect all the morning mist has cleared from Sedella by now and you'll be blessed with those fantastic views. Hopefully, we'll get to meet up with you and those wonderful friends again soon. Your first few months in Spain will fly by and Phet will soon be with you. PS.. You're not in the least bit grumpy!

Sandra & Neil I hope to see you over the weekend.

Tamara it is always smashin' to talk & be with you, hope it's not long.

And Maddie hope to see you in Spain in the future, I hear that there is to be heatwave in the UK this weekend so hopefully you can put your hot water bottle away soon. You are both welcome to come & stay for a while.

Right, I start off for Sedella in a few hours & I'll try to right some more on board.

Finally the true adventure starts........

Nice to read your blog again even though we have been in contact inbetween! Sorry to hear about Phet not being able to join you for a while. I hope it goes quickly and she can join you soon! We have more delays, banks not wanting to part with their money for as long as is possible but we WILL get there albeit a few weeks later than originally planned! It will be great to meet up and also with some of the others inc Tamara. It'll be great to see where everyone lives! Hope you have a safe trouble free journey :)

Tamara those words are so true, but that's "most" of the hard part done, Just the English & Spanish Government departments to deal with now although I think for Phet it is just time!
So the next meet ups seem to be at yours Lin then hopefully yours Louise (Thank you both for the comments incidentally).
The next blog is done, & I'll write another in the next couple of days.
