Was going to Spain from start to finish but now I, Luca have taken over

Was about researching about where to look & about living in Spain I am here. So was for anyone interested here are the good & bad things that happened to me. But now I (Luca) will tell you about my experiences, both very bad, better and good.

My annoyance has now gone away!

I think it was about a month that I wrote my last blog or written on the forum at all but after several private messages and a couple of emails thought I should explain my sabbatical. But first I should thank the "supporters" for their very kind thoughts & concerns.

You may recall an attack on my last blog not just about me but my friends on the blog, which whilst quite unexpected was annoying & a little worrying as I really thought attacks were kept to that other area, but not apparently so! This made me consider whether I wanted all this.

Then that bloomimg bug I picked up in Spain returned with a vengeance & boy was I poorly. The cold then cough turned into full blown flu, hot cold, sweaty, shaky with a banging head. I have to say I hate bed & fortunately only spend four hours per day in it, but I went to bed & didn't get up for two & a half days & then spent most of it covered in a duvet on the settee. My wife smiled, saying she couldn't understand it as she has NEVER had a bad cold or cough, I warned her to keep away, but she didn't listen! Guess what? her first cold was upon her & she now understood, she even lost her voice (I'm saying nothing!).

The lethargy lasted for about 3 weeks where I wasn't interested in anything, never mind turning on the laptop.

Then I remembered something said by Tamara (I think) but it could have been Eggie, Patricia or any clever lady, (it was a lady) that a message should raise that blog to the top of the pile. Such a good idea I thought, as I do get really fed up having to wade through advertising blogs, the news blogs I'd rather receive from the professional news bodies elsewhere & other blogs I just don't need.

So I wrote to Justin suggesting the idea but he has decided not only to do nothing about but has not even had the decency to reply. Very ignorant I thought from someone who is probably earning a fortune from bloggers as us & all the advetising receipts he banks. At the very worst I would have expected at least an acknowledgement. If anyone emails I ALWAYS reply (I will reply soon Tamara - honest), even if it is just a "thanks" or "I'll think about it" or "no chance" but to just to be ignored is very annoying making one form perhaps correct (or not) opinions. The conclusions are to me obvious!

Right to get get back to the real purpose of  the overall blog, I've nothing really to report (all this ranting you may now be thinking, for a lousy "no report" but I had to clear my air. It is 29 days before we return to Spain to continue our search and am at the moment trawling through Google Earth looking at the villages & lakes to which I may have an interest.

My immediate problem is however trying to get a visa for my wife & speaking to the Spanish embassy in London...............

Hi Gerald. I think it's not actually clear how to get hold of Justin. I've had to link up via my speeding controversy thread, because I don't know how to do it, and he has usually replied. I'm assuming he doesn't want the route to him to be too clear for fear of being inundated by messages... But I agree it would be good to have a clear route. Maybe if he sees your post, he can let us know what the situation is. Good that you're back in the land of the living. It didn't cross my mind that the nasty element had put you off - touch wood, they seem to have gone quiet. And it wasn't my idea about the messages being bumped up - it must have been one of the other female geniuses on the site (she said modestly). Nos da. Eggie

Hi Eggie,
not for one moment do I blame you I love your blogs & believe it or not Yours & Tamara's are the first ones I always look for but first have to wade through all the cr*p. I think there are about six or seven bloggers only in which I am interested.
As to Justin I sought out one of his latest blogs & wrote to him through that, surely he looks at his returned comments!

Good to see you Gerry. Glad that you and your wife have beaten the bug.

As for the other "bugs", don't let them bother you. You've heard the expression: "The dogs bark, the caravan passes".

You get these sad "stalkers" on sites. However, I do understand you perfectly. If you are not used to nastiness it can be offputting.

There are only a small handful of blogs looking at. Tamara, Eggcup, Christopher Dowrick (infrequently he blogs but always worth while reading), and one or two more. The rest is just boring rubbish.

A little courtesy from the site owners would not go amiss now and then. I agree Gerald.

Best wishes
Patricia

Hi Gerald glad to hear you and your good lady are on the mend,on your comments I believe that bogs sites in general can be laborious sometimes, but if restricted may lose their appeal,I get frustrated with repeated animal homing requests and perhaps a pets section would weed this out, I am a dog owner before anyone decides to attack me, as for the issues with rude and ignorant posters it is a price you pay for the cream some posters display, like you I choose blogs and issues that appeal to me and tend to ignore others which are inane drivel.
I wish you a very Merry Xmas and Happy New Year and hope your trip over is fruitfull and I await with interest your blog news.

James

Thank you Patricia, you are so right, I abhor nastiness & bad will. If I read a blog & don't like I simply keep away. There is enough evil in this world & I don't want it around me.
James your comments are always well received & we thank you for your Christmas thoughts & good wishes & really hope to report something good after our next journey to the promised land.

Oh Gerald, it's so good to see you back and I'm not even going to mention the things that have gone on before! I need to start my own blog, I have so much to tell but I don't want to jinx anything!! It will soon be your turn to be in Spain once again (I am here now but home tomorrow!) and looking again for your ideal area. By the way I always look for yours, Eggies and Tamara's blogs as the first thing to read! Have a great Christmas, I believe its coming up very soon!!! ;)

Smashin' Louise, I hope you enjoyed your stay in Spain but have to tell you the weather is a bit raw in the UK although sunny today.
I'd love you to write a blog as I'm sure Tamara, Eggie, James and everyone else would & remember you cannot jinx the past. I think that there are not enough good blogs from intelligent, sincere & honest people to read & I know your blog will be good. Remember you can always change it add to it or even delete if you wish so you're not "committed" as it were. I occasionally re-read mine & think of the distance in just a months I have travelled & the superb internet friends I have. It's a history.
So, I also hope you and your family have a very good Christmas and look forward to reading your first blog!

Ah well it was indeed my GENIUS suggestion that a blog comment should somehow "bump" that blog to the top. I have PMd Justin, but I do see his non-reply differently from other folks - I think it's not a major issue affecting the running of the site, it's quite a complex site with many aspects that need looking after, yes of course there are ways that Justin earns income from the site he runs (that's no crime - it's called getting paid for your work!) but I've never paid either for info I've received on the forums or for blog space. So I reckon helping us bloggers get our blogs up the list is pretty low priority. When I PMd Justin on a more serious topic some months ago he took immediate action.

Anyway, it's getting close to Gerry's next visit and I think we're all almost as excited as he is! Hope the visa gets sorted in time for your wife :-). And happy christmas to you all!

Point of Information - I just wanted to let folks know that when the bloglist was spammed last week with someone plugging some Canada jackets (or something) for sale, using to different "blog" names, I sent a PM to Justin alting him, and they were all removed within a couple of hours.

No I didn't get a message back, but I did get action, which is far more useful! So give him a break folks, it IS a hugely busy site (what with all the fights he has to break up etc!).

Happy new year to you all ..... See you over the other side!
