PLEASE NOTE: REGARDING PARCELS TO GALGOS DEL SOL FROM USA & CANADA

After I wrote this post, 
Galgos del Sol had so many parcels, thank you, everyone who sent one.
PLEASE NOTE: People from the USA and Canada have kindly sent GdS parcels. Sadly for some when they have arrived GdS has been asked to pay heavy taxes. For one item 72 euros, another 53 euros and this is after they have paid extremely high postage prices. Unfortunately we can't pay these taxes so either the parcels have been returned or the sender gets stuck with more expense. Please please bear this in mind before sending to us from the USA or Canada. We are so sorry 
Better to send money and we will send someone shopping on your behalf. Sorry to those stung. We weren't aware.

On the GdS Facebook page there are comments from friends of GdS to help get over the problem in future.
Examples are:
1) They should be marked: gift with no value and put a value of 1 dollar or so. I have never had to pay tax/customs on gifts/donations from the US.
2) Make sure the value is listed as being under $22.00 and mark as a gift or personal.
3) My postmaster tells me to always mark the package and customs slip as "Used Goods for Greyhound Adoption", and to give it a value of only $1.00.
