Galgos del Sol, based in Murcia, Spain, have been super busy - nothing new there - often working with other charities to rescue galgos in severe difficulties & often are involved in other rescues but galgos are their priority.

So much has happened recently & we apologise for leaving this blog for too long but we will try to find time to publish news & give updates regularly.

In the meantime we'd like to bring your attention again to how you can donate towards the animals who cost us so much. Once rescued there's incredible vets bills which consist of vaccinations, testing for diseases, spaying/castrating, operations other than that, microchipping etc. There are often transport costs involved & passports are also arranged so the dogs can travel to the UK if necessary. These dogs are adopted by wonderful people from all over, UK, France, Germany, USA, Belgium, Denmark etc. It is very involved.

If there's a will, there IS a way! Tina, President of Galgos del Sol, (& others) find ways, they truly are amazing dedicated people.

In this collage are featured rescued dogs including a heavily pregnant galga who gave birth to ten pups though six have sadly died. The remaining four are thriving though, they're little miracles.

Hello,I am Rosemarie from holland live with my 2 little dogs alone,in a house with a small garden,in a nice little village.. You can see me on Face book,(Rosemarie) I am getting 17 of August 67 years old I am in love with the Galgo,s had never a galgo before.I love to give agalgo a warm and lovely warm bed,that means, with me and 1 chihuahua 9 years have him as a baby old,and 1 mix teckel i have her 1and a half year, she had so many baby,s and then trow her away,and we are sleeping together in my big bed cosy and warm, and we have enough place for one off your lovely galgo,s ,i been thinking a lot,you understand that? Because i am not so young anymore i been thinking about a galgo not so young,first my eyes fall on Salvadore do not no his age! and i have reed about Pistolero because that he is oke as a first galgo and he is not so young anymore and he is a special boy that brings joy, And the third is a black one he is zeven? is his name Claude? I like to no more about the doggies yes please? Wen I dicited ,its possible to come home for the doggie at the and of Septembre , i am going 14 septembre to your country Spain,to Pineda de Mar for 10 days in hotel Promenade. Galgos del Sol is a small rescue based in Murcia, Spain that rescues abandoned and injured galgos (Spanish hunting greyhounds), rehabilitates them and finds them forever homes in the UK and other parts of Europe. Thousands of galgos are abandoned or killed annually at the end of each short hunting season and as they are not always viewed as potential pets in Spain, they usually end up in perreras (pounds), where their lives are ended, often not in ways we would consider humane. Galgos del Sol is entirely dependent on fundraising for its survival and is run by two dedicated women, Tina and Gaynor, assisted by a group of dedicated volunteers based in Spain, France and in the UK. Galgos del Sol es una pequeña protectora con sede en Murcia, España, que rescata galgos abandonados y heridos (galgos españoles de caza) y los rehabilita y les encuentra hogares para siempre en el Reino Unido y otras partes de Europa. Miles de galgos son abandonados o asesinados cada año al final de cada temporada de caza y como en España normalmente no los consideran mascotas por lo general terminan en perreras, donde acaban con su vida y a menudo en formas que no consideraríamos muy humanas. Galgos del Sol depende totalmente de donaciones para su supervivencia y está gestionado por dos mujeres muy involucradas, Tina y Gaynor, con la asistencia de un grupo de voluntarios con sede en España, Francia y en el Reino Unido.
