Galgos del Sol (Murcia) makes saving galgos in Spain a reality!

There is an ABSOLUTE NEED to highlight the plight of galgos (greyhounds) in Spain. This blog is to help the refuge, Galgos Del Sol in Murcia, Costa Blanca. http://galgosdelsol.org/

POWERFUL video of the abuse of galgos. Viewing discretion needed. Very upsetting.

Shows critical situation of Galgos, Spanish hunting dogs. 50,000 die each year at the end of the hunting season. Many are abused and horribly injured before death or abandonment. Many groups in Spain and the world work together to rescue, medically treat, and rehome these graceful dogs. Please watch and get involved. Adopt or rescue, instead of buying a new pup or dog.

Tina has MANY beautiful galgos in the refuge near Murcia on the Costa Blanca, she also has podencos, both gentle animals. If you can give one a loving home please contact Tina through the refuge's website, contact details here http://www.perrosdelsol.es/contact.html

What is so desperately needed here in Spain is a far more responsible attitude from the Galgueros, and from National Government, a spay / neuter assistance programme, rather than the wholesale slaughter of strays picked up off the streets. Galgueros found to be, or even suspected of, mistreating or abandoning animals must be brought to justice. I have been told by my vet that in our area, (Granada), a dog picked up off the streets by the local authority is unlikely to live beyond a week. Little or no effort is made to rehome, relocate or get them into decent shelters. My full appreciation to the likes of Tina in Murcia and Alan and Jane in Pedrera. If I had the money and the space I'd be doing the same thing. fb
