New EOS facility - Upload community documents
Friday, February 5, 2010 @ 11:34 AM

We have today just launched a new facility for users of the community forums.

The new facility allows you to upload and share documents relating to your community.  So as well as sharing photos and using the discussion forums, you can now upload and share documents for your community.  These could be community minutes, letters, etc.

You can use this to upload PDFs, Word documnets, Excel documents, etc, with many formats permitted.

To access this new function you will see a new tab called "Docs" on the home page for your community:

There you can see and access any documents that other users upload.

The upload process is very quick and simple and after many requests to install this facility I hope you will make some good use of it!

Although we have obviously tested it extensively you may find a bug that we've missed.  If you do then please leave a comment on the blog here and we'll look into it ASAP.

Thanks

Justin

Hi,
What would be invaluable would be a translation facility for messages or documents we wish to send to our Spanish friends or fellow apartment owners.

Well done,

Jim Shaw

Justin, thank you. This new facility is exceptionally creative and something that will grow and grow in usefulness. Great good luck with it. Aren't we all lucky to have you and EOS!

ABOUT TRANSLATIONS: A website with a URL of http://www.freetranslation.com/ will give you "SDL" and unlimited reasonable free translations of English/Spanish, Spanish/English and many other languages. Or you can pay a very, very small subscription and get (usually) slightly better translations with "SDL Platinum". Google can be a bit freaky, but is increasingly worth a try!

Another widely-used translation site is babelfish

Hi. Great idea in theory but a bit concerned as we have been taken to task previously about putting confidential items such as minutes on websites such as EOS which are obviously open for anyone who is registered to read. Any comments?

Obviously the idea is to only upload files that you are allowed to upload and that is public information anyway. Confidential information should not be shared. Some communities are fine with publishing minutes and meeting agendas and we are often asked to upload them for them. Hence the facility.

Confidentiality.

Justin: will there be no facility for controlling access to an information stream by means of a password?

Many urbanisations here have a problem where the administrators are expected to do as the presidents and their little Mafia gangs tell them. They (the Mafia) dreams up of jobs to do with in the urbanisation that lead to more expenses in future and Keep looting the community and earning their living. one has helped himself wit 16K last year. Another has lined his pockets with 13K and the administrator who swiped off 18K. It will be a great idea to share info that helps eliminate such power hungry crooks. Ways to protect and manage your community funds. Most important is make the absent home owners take more interest in their investments and Yes the nightmare of those "Proxy" Votes that are so abused.

Keep up the good work Justin.

You may have opened a "Pandora Box"

Many thanks for all the interesting and useful information to date

Un Saldo
