The view from the back

My blog is about our move to Spain, to be exact it's about the intergration of a techno junkie and his lovely wife of 30 yrs into 18th century Spain.

IT's GREEN
Friday, November 22, 2013 @ 1:35 PM

Well there we have it , seems odd , this bit of card that has dominated our lives for the last four months is on the table doing nothing. It's not fancy , no flashes or beeps not even a fancy holograph to twinkle in the sun it's green.

We had just stopped in our local for a late lunch off the menu of the day, how they don't go bust selling food at these prices is amazing and the quality never fails to please. Two mixed tuna salads , two pork and lentil soups, one beef rib , one chicken breast flame grilled with fries , two coffees , bread with aioli and a bottle of wine €20 . The lovely wife volunteered to drive the last 3km so only a taste for her when we toast a good day. Well stick a fork in me after a long day and a bottle of wine at lunch I was replete so replete we decided to have another coffee in the bar LOL .

Whilst scanning the local Spanish paper ( I see they expect to have the HS rail done by 2020, yeh sure ) the bar started to fill up, in the next booth two English couples came in ( I believe the term is " snow geese " ) and one lady went to the bar to order. Now I should be the last to point a finger as my Spanish is not much better than that heard in Benidorm in August but, she asked for " a tea , 3 coffee con larrrchy " in a heavy Home Counties accent , we had a grin at each other and dismissed it but after they got served the same lady went back with her drink and complained that she had been given peppermint tea not English tea ( not Indian or Chinese but English ) she turned to us and said " I thought it look green when I put milk in , but what do you expect their Spanish and they do know what we order every day ! " I just shrugged and looked back down at the Spanish paper as if I was engrossed in the news of the day. So when in Spain learn the lingo or drink coffee it's not their fault you sound like a gibbering fool.

So what next ? On the time line were about back on track, we need a car soon so probably that . What we really need is a transformer like the toy! Small enough to get round the little streets and park up , big enough to be a airport Shuttle , 4x4 in case we buy a cortijo but cheap to run with enough leg room for big lad ! Best ask jezzer.

The last week has been freezing, this lovely rental has no heating ! How did we not notice that when we were looking ? We brought with us a oil filled rad , not to use but because it was like new and out of my office, so that's in the bed room and we've got a LPG death box in the living room . I say living room but that room Is open plan with the kitchen, utility, hall, stairs and master bed room , thats right no door on the master bedroom kinky eh. The single glazing is so draughty that we now have lock down like the scrubs , the shutters are down and the world has gone it's just Googie Withers, ( within these walls )   The big slipper and a snuggle rug is looking good value.

Back in the UK, 14c was a nice spring day and 10c was a jumper day but after been toasted in the 40+c range and simmered in the high 20's for 3 month we are officially nesh !

So hyperthermia and CO poisoning willing I'll be back .

Haha! Oh dear you do make me laugh! When we were looking for our house one criteria was that it must have some heating. We have oil fired central heating, two fires and a gas fire so we should keep cosy if not skint! :)
