Are all banks like this?

The slow pace that the banks work at when you need help.

Banks!!!
Monday, December 10, 2012 @ 3:03 PM

As many people out there we are now hanging on by our nails with regard to payments to the bank etc. Away back in March 2012 we did talk to them and they were going to offer us interest only for a period to help. We sent all the datails and e-mailed many times but they have now went to ground and wont return any contacts. What to do? Any advice? surely they cannot keep doing this. We are now at the stage where we have kept paying but are now at the end of the road. Surely someone has to be able to hold them to account for this as i am sure they will not be long in contacting us when we stop paying.

The banks just want you to pay, full stop...they don't want to offer you interest only because it's less money for them and they are desperate for every cent. So many people are in arrears that the bank staff are being told to go hard on people.

I know of banks who have called someone at 3am to 'remind' them that they are behind on their mortgage.

Our bank manager shouted and banged his fists on the desk when we were trying to negotiate with them. No, we have a guarantor and they want all the repayment each month no questions asked.

Yes, you can ask for interest only. They will probably tell you that it doesn't exist in Spain, that you can't do it... blah blah.

If you are able to pay only interest don't assume that it's for free... you'll have to go to the notary to sign a new deed stating that you are paying interest only and for only a set time. I think friends paid 900 euros for this?

Then, when your interest only period finishes they'll probably put you on a higher rate of interest than you might have been on before.

The banks want your money. Keep trying to pay or else speak to a solicitor about handing the keys back. I believe the banks will try to chase any assets you may have back in the UK since so many people have done runners....

Hey ho.... keep calm and carry on :)
