Hi Adam - I'm afraid you will find it very hard to get work in Spain. We have unemployment of over 20% (and even higher in expat areas) and many people are going back to the UK because they just can't find any work. You may get some casual work and try to build up a reputation, but there are thousands of experienced builders struggling to make ends meet.

If you want to work legally then it will cost you around 300€ per month for social security and an accountant - whether you are making any money or not. If you work illegally you risk being caught.

You will also need to speak spanish if you want to work outside expat areas and, even then, the spanish builders will favour their own nationality first.

If you do come over then you need to have one or even two years' money saved to give you time to get established.

Sorry this is not what you wanted to hear, but that's the harsh reality.

Good luck.
