Spain demands Google court appearance over Street View
19 August 2010 @ 13:28
A Spanish judge has ordered a Google representative to appear in court as part of an ongoing investigation into the company's Street View service.
The Spanish probe is designed to determine whether the company committed a 'computer crime' while taking shots of the city streets in Spain.
The search engine has already come under fire after admitting that a number of its 'Street View' cars had inadvertently monitored a number of people's online activities broadcast over wireless networks.

However, the company has maintained that it did not use any of the information gathered over Wi-Fi networks.
Judge Raquel Fernandino issued the subpoena after private internet watchdog Apedanica filed a complaint in June.
The California-based company is also facing investigations over the practice in the United States, Germany and Australia.
