Supersol: A rip off Spanish supermarket
06 February 2011 @ 10:21
Supersol is an extremely expensive Spanish supermarket, selling mainly British brands to expats and tourists on the Spanish costas. I visited our localSupersol yesterday for only the second time in 2 years, to get some Chinese noodles as I couldn't find them in any of the Spanish supermarkets near us.
While inside, I took the time to check out some of their prices, and I was staggered. Pataks curry sauces for nearly 6 euros. Tins of corned beef for 3 euros. My favourite was a box of 160 PG tips tea bags for €8.75. That's just a crazy price. I can see why Supersol is always empty outside of July and August.
If you miss your British brands, it's much cheaper going to one of the many Iceland stores dotted along the Spanish coast. Even Morrisons in Gibraltar is cheaper than Supersol.
