The town of La Unión is a hive of activitiy more so in the months of August -September when they hold the National Music and Flamenca Dance Festival. La Unión is situated in an area that since the Roman times, is renowned for artistic metal works, mining and fishing. This is still obvious from the residential and city buildings that are now being restored. All this industry ceased years ago and now La Unión is a town that focuses on services, on preserving the trees and its natural parks, such as the Sancti Spiritus Mountains.
