Hondón de Las Nieves literally means 'Gorge of the Snow'. It is named for the village’s loyalty to "The Virgin of the Snow" and the church at the centre of the village which is dedicated to her. It is approximately 8km from Aspé and 34km from Alicante and is about a 30 minute drive from the coast. The village has a good choice of restaurants, bars, banks and markets. Hang-gliding, ballooning, quad biking, horse riding, trout fishing, mountain biking and rambling are all available in the area. This peaceful and traditional agricultural community lies in the Middle Vinapoló Valley and has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Its main produce is wine.
