El Puerto de Santa María is a Spanish town situated on the Costa de la Luz. It is only 20 minutes across the bay from Cádiz. It is situated around the mouth of the river Guadalete. It lies on the Atlantic coast and boast eight beautiful sandy beaches. The town is a fishing port and has numerous sites of historical interest. Christopher Columbus stayed in one of the castles there. It has all the facilities and the customary markets.
