El Chapparal has six restaurants of mixed nationalities, bars, grocery and hardware stores and a hairdresser. There is also a very good local bus service. A small aquapark can be located about 15 mins away which is suitable for young children. The nature reserve around the salt lakes is ideal for walks and is very near. Beaches are approximately 5 mins away by car.
