Cocentaina is a Valencian market town situated approximately 5km from Alcoy which is the principal inland city of the region. It is situated between the Sierra Mariola Mountains and the River Serpis. There are approximately 11,000 residents and it is aroughly 110km from Valencia, 60km from Alicante and 50km from Benidorm. Concentaina has a Mediterranean climate with rain falling in Autumn and early Spring, the rest of the year enjoying sunshine. The villages economy depends on the textile industry but they also cultivate olives, almonds, vines etc
