This is an historic town next to the N340. It is approximately 30km to the capital, to Lorca and about 50 kms to the port of Cartagena which is near to the coastal resort of Mazarron. Alhama de Murcia is situated near to the base of the Sierra Espuna. In front of the town lies a plain with vineyards, almond and olive groves. Peppers, cereals and melons are also grown.
