Aledo is famous for its connection with the "El Cid" legend, as portrayed in the movie starring Charlton Heston. Nearby is the National Park of the Sierra Espuna, Murcia. From a distance the fort of Aledo on its high rocky pinnacle can be clearly seen. There are fantastic views to the mountains.
