thanks for replying. 
Are these licences difficult to obtain?
For example if I am thinking of buying in an already establised holiday resort like San Jaime in Menorca.

the only info I have is what I've been told by an Estate agaent in MAjorca who insisted that 95% of properties do not have this licence and the Tax people are only after the big players.
I'm not sure whether I trust Estate Agents, but I was also told this by my Solicitor when I was looking into buying in Murcia (I was buying a place in Jumilla but the developer went bust - money safe though - phew!)
The problem as I see it is that if you apply for a licence and are denied it then the authorities are aware of you. I really don't know how easy it is to obtain a licence. I would suggest making equires on the premise that you want to buy in your area and see what the council say.

I'm thinking of buying an apartment out in Menorca after having had many holidays there over the years. the only trouble is I read somewhere that you need a licence if you intend to rent the property out and that getting a licence is difficult and not guaranteed.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

I have dealt with them and would again. I found them to be very professional and true to their word. They took me out on an investigation visit and although I ended up buying through someone else (I eventually went for a Dalia as it was more what I was looking for) they were great and I received my deposit back within 4 days.

I would use them again and probably will at some stage.

I'm not sure the solseekers projections are realistic. It talks about 35 weeks rental per year. I think this is a not achievaable.

I have been quoted 10- 15 weeks per year in the first 2 years and 15 - 25 weeks after this. The amount of marketing is obviously very important.
