Could anyone who permanently resides in Spain tell me how they have gone about getting covered for healthcare.  I am not of pensionable age so don't automatically qualify. I do intend to find work eventually and will be eligible then but what about in the meantime??

Is it just a case of getting private healthcare cover and if so anyone got advise about which company to use.

Hi there. This is a message to all of you lucky ones that have already completed and have moved over to Spain lock stock & barrell!!!

So much emphasis is put on getting an 'independant' solicitor when buying abroad. We went to 'A Place in the Sun' exhibition on Sunday and I don't know if was intentional to get custom but at one of the seminars they put the fear of God in us with regard to getting the proper financial advise. Thet stressed that you need an INTERNATINAL solisitor who is fully aware of both English and Spanish law so that you get the right info with regards who to put the name of the house in. They also said something about if you leave any money in PEPs &  ISAs over here you will pay tax on it in Spain and many other things.

Our house is up for sale and when sold we intend to come over and rent for a while. Does anyone know if we can invest the money here and just transfer what we need when we need it or do we have to put it in a Spanish bank account.

Could anyone who has 'Been there, done it and now wears the t-shirt' give us any clear advise about all the matters I've mentioned.

Can anyone give me  clear advise re the NIE number. We are not buying through an agent and so don't have the benefit of their wisdom but looking at this forum there sees to be a lot of you guys that are very knowledgable with regard to lots of 'Spanishy' things.

Can we apply for it before we are actually living in Spain?

We have 2 options:

1) we either do it from the UK

2) we are supposed to be going across on 19th Dec so could do it then if it would be easier. I think we have to go to a police station but which one? We are staying in the Los Alcazares area.

 

PLEASE HELP ASAP!!

 

 

PS. Hi to Tinasolera- it was nice talking to you at San Cyaetano- albeit very brief !!

Hi we are a mature couple (52 and 47 with no children) looking for a place to stay for a few days at the end of Sept and again from Tues 19 Dec to Wed 26th Dec.

We are looking at areas/property in the area and want to visit this development again ( found it on our last day when we vivsited it in June) as it is a very strong contender at the moment. Are there any houses for rent or where do you all stay when you visit your properties while they are being bulit? 

Does anyone know how many Brits acrtually live full time on the Taray development.

Would anyone who does live there permanantly be willing to meet up with us for a coffee/chat as I have SO many questions I would be on this chat site all day if I had the time!!!

What's the weather like at Xmas and does everything grind to a halt or not? Hope not don't fancy cooking Xmas dinner this year- that was one of the points about going at that time!!!

 

I hope I get lots of replies and ideas of where to stay
