Community charges differ depending on the location and type of property you buy roughly ranging between 250euro – to - 1000euro per quarter, so make sure you know what yours would be and don’t just take someone’s word for it! Most properties are about the 250 – 300 per quarter but as I say make sure before you buy.

The complex is very busy in high summer, rest of summer month’s moderate and winter quiet.

The people in the community are very friendly and welcoming especially those that live on site.

Sports you have Golf, football court, tennis courts, gym (charges apply in most cases).

But if you haven’t visited us then I would strongly recommend you do so before committing to buying.

Hi KJL

I did say in my opinion, in relation to tolls.

Clearly if you have the time you can save the tolls but at the cost of an extra nights Hotel possibly

It is correct the voyage club discount is only on the sailing charge and not cabin and I did say it’s far more expensive in high summer.

Just to give an example comparing MY experience of driving though France and sailing to Santander.

Driving France both ways May Last year (My Costs)

£130 Euro Tunnel Return

£150 Fuel cost across France Return

£180 Tolls France Return

£120 The cost of two Hotels one each way

Total £580 approx

The drive time is about 10 hours then overnight in Hotel

Sailing to Santander

£379 Cost of Sailing and cabin return in October this year after discount applied

£525 Cost of Sailing and cabin return in May next year after discount applied

My annual membership cost is £110 so this should be split over the number of times you do the crossing each year.

The sailing time is about 24 hours so over all same amount of time used in both cases.

Delays and cancelled sailings can happen which ever crossing is used, so far I have had no issues which ever route I used.

All just my opinion, All in All it’s what ticks each person’s boxes the best.

Regards

pgm

Community thread: Drive to UK best route

24 Nov 2014 2:48 PM:

Hi Eddie

Over resent years I have driven from the UK to Condado using all the routes I can think of.

I have driven up both sides of France on Toll Roads and none Toll Roads. In my opinion using the toll roads in France is the only realistic option.

My preferred route though France is Euro Tunnel, then Abbeville, Rouen, Le Mans, Tours, Poitiers, Bordeaux. Lots of Hotels in the outskirts of Bordeaux to stay overnight.

Then from Bordeaux to Condado Spain:

Most roads in Spain are good and avoiding Tolls is no problem, my preferred route is Bordeaux, Pau, Zaragoza, Valencia, Alicante, Murcia, Condado de Alhama.

The above is two full days’ long drive and 10 to 12 hours each day.

My most resent route and probabley favourite is by taking the overnight Brittney Ferry from Portsmouth to Santander or Bilbao, this saves you the drive though France and the cost of the fuel, Tunnel and tolls in France. You will probabley find the cost of the Ferry is offset by the saving of Fuel, Tolls, Euro Tunnel and Hotel particularly in the early/late summer and winter months. High summer is far more expensive using this route. It is a far more relaxing way to do this part of the trip and less wear and tear on your car, they also have pet friendly cabins and walking areas on the Ferry so taking your dog is no problem. If this route becomes your preference you can pay to join the Voyage Club currently £100 first year joining fee plus £110 per year membership, this gives you 30% discount off sailing and discounts in restaurants on the ship. Basically if you use this route more than once a year its best to be a member.

Then my route though Spain avoiding Tolls is:

Santander, Burgos, Madrid, Murcia, Condado de Alhama. The drive is about 8 to 9 hours depending on the traffic on the outskirts of Madrid but the roads are all good.

Hope this helps

Alicante Airport to Condado

On exiting the Airport follow signs for Murcia. (NOT Alicante)

The road will be signposted A7 Murcia/Almeria/Granada

(if in doubt just follow signs for Almeria/Vera as they are way past where you will need to be).

Murcia City is about 40mins drive

Stay on the motorway and as you come to Murcia City continue to follow the signs for Almeria/Granada, there will also be a yellow sign in Arabic with a picture of a ship on it, for the port, shortly after this the A7 veers right at this point. It will look like you’re coming off the road, but it is still signed A7 Alhama de Murcia/Almeria/Vera

Continue on the motorway heading for Alhama de Murcia/Almeria.

As you near Alhama de Murcia look for Junction 627 601(approx 20 minutes away from Murcia City)

Get into the Right lane for both the 627A/B. (The first turn off (627A) is for Alhama de Murcia don’t take this exit but Take the 627B 601B exit which is immediately after 627A 601A (it is a sharp right hand bend) – signed ‘Beaches de Mazarron’, ‘Mazarron’ & Cartegena’.

At Junction 627B 601B you merge with the RM2.

Take the second exit which is junction 4 (it goes from Junction 1 straight to Junction 4 – missing out 2&3) for Mazarron and the road is the RM23 for Mazarron & Puerto de Mazarron.

3 miles along this carriageway, Condado de Alhama (CDA) will be signposted, it has its own junction off the carriage way, take this exit for CDA at the roundabout  take the 3rd exit which is lined with palm trees, this road takes you down to the next roundabout which has a large sign saying Condado de Alhama.

DIRECTIONS TO CONDADO FROM SAN JAVIER AIRPORT

·        Leave airport and follow signs for AP7 Cartagena.

·        Join AP7 at slip road signposted for AP7 Cartagena (blue and white sign) and travel on AP7 for a short distance (to exit number 790)

·        Leave AP7 at Exit 790 signposted for Torre Pacheco.

·        Keep following signs for Torre Pacheco – you will pass the Polaris World Garden Centre on your left.

·        Shortly after the PW Garden Centre, you will come to a roundabout – go straight on (F30 Torre Pacheco).

·        You will immediately see the building work for Phase 2 of the Mar Menor Golf Resort on the right and a red hotel with white dots on (Barcelo Torre Pacheco) on the left.

·        At the next roundabout, take the A30 turning, sign-posted for Murcia/Cartagena.

·        Continue on the A30 and at next roundabout take the second right turn. (Note – the first sign on approach to the roundabout says A30 Murcia/Cartagena but the sign at the turn-off just says El Jimenado – don’t panic, this is the right road!)

·        Follow the main A30 road through the village of El Jimenado.

·        Shortly after you leave the village, you will see a tractor garage on the left and a tall white building on the right with a red and blue stripe and a chicken on the top!

·        Shortly after the chicken factory, you will reach a major roundabout.

·        Take the second exit, signposted RM2/A7 Alhama de Murcia and Andalucia.

·        Travel on the RM2 for approximately 30 km.

·        Look out for sign for RM23 Mazarron/MU603 El Palmar – take this exit.

·        Go right round the roundabout to the last exit (3rd exit) which is signposted RM23 Mazarron.

·        Take second exit off RM23 signposted for Condado de Alhama.

·        Go right round the motorway junction roundabout and take fourth exit up the palm tree lined boulevard into Condado de Alhama. Take 1st right turning at 1st Condado roundabout and follow road to security entrances on left. Turn right once through security and follow road to Jardines
