The in-laws had a crappy 2 weeks over at the apartment as our downstairs neighbour has taken it upon himself to use the key we (stupidly) gave him to come and go as he pleases and make as much mess as he can on our balcony.

I do feel sorry for him because he's had to put up with the leak every time it rains but I don't blame Lyn & Joe (in-laws) for snapping and taking back the key.  They seem to think that neighbour may have caused the leak himself when fitting an air con unit to the wall........hmmm.

Neighbour then called his friend in to do the repairs on the same day that Joe had bought a load of gear to have a go at fixing it himself as he's a pretty good handyman so Joe had to take all the stuff he'd bought back to the DIY store at La Canada.

Then neighbour smacks us with a €400 bill which he expects us to pay.  We've tried to explain to him that it's a shared drain so we should split it 4 ways but he's having none of it.  We're waiting for a call from him as we're only going to send him €100 and see what happens........

On a lighter note, we let the apartment this week to Chris's work colleague.  He came round last Thursday and we gave him a little orientation session on google earth, and handed over 2 sets of keys telling him to keep one set and give another to his girlfriend so if you lost one set you're still covered.

At 06:45 on Sunday morning we get a call "I've lost the keys...what am I going to do??"  Luckily the estate agents have a set but they weren't open until Monday so he had to get a room at the Diana Park as all the hotels in Estepona town centre were full.  As it turns out, we don't have to charge him for getting new keys cut as Birmingham Airport have the lost ones waiting for him to collect when he returns................

Hi there

The In-Laws are there at the moment and would like to meet you!  Is anyone else out there or due to fly out over the next few days?  I think they'd like to talk to someone/anyone who is there at the moment as the saga of the leaky drain isn't getting resolved and to make things worse, our downstairs neighbour has now taken it upon himself to dig up our balcony leaving the debris for Ma & Pa to clean up!

Thanks!

Helen

Thank goodness - more UK owners!!

I thought I was just wittering on to myself in this forum (apart from Tanya of course!)

I'm staggered at the price of the parking spaces! It smacks of greed on the developers part.  Who is going to pay that much?  We certainly can't afford it, and I'm sure the Spanish residents feel the same if not even more so.

My in-laws (& co-owners) are going out there next week for 2 weeks so I may have news for you when they return.

Hi Steve & Jan

I concurr with you on the leaky drain.  We own one of the duplex's and it's our drain that's leaking into our downstairs neighbours apartment.

We've had a temporary fix put in place (which was a right mess and we had to re-paint the whole balcony area - not my idea of a relaxing weekend break!!) and our Spanish neighbours who we share the drain with said that a plumber is coming out to fix it, but I won't hold my breath that it will be done in time for the in-laws who are visiting end of August.  So frustrating!

Good to hear you got some sun anyway

Helen

Hi Helen - it's Helen!

Hope you had a lovely holiday and the weather was better than in the UK!

I won't hold my breath to the pool being finished but has anything changed since the last time you were there?

There was a community meeting the day before we got there in June so I wonder if you had a copy of the minutes pushed under your door?  If you did, can you translate any of it?

Speak to you soon.

Helen
